UNDER 15 HURLING:
Our Under 15 hurlers recorded two thrilling victories in the
space of three days last week against Sacred Heart and Ardmore.
Last Monday night, Sacred Heart were the visitors, and after
a ding dong battle, Ferrybank edged the win on a score-line of 8-04 to 7-06.
There was little to separate these sides, with goals flying in at either end in
the opening half, with Ruaidhri McGarrity scoring two. Loughlan Flanagan,
Caolan MacCathmhaoil and Izaak Richards were also on the mark, as Ferrybank led
by 5-01 to 3-04 at the break.
There was no let-up in the second-half, as just when it
seemed Sacred Heart might pull away, more goals from Ruaidhri and Conor Haley
kept Ferrybank right in it. Towards the end of the game, another Sacred Heart
goal left only a point in it, but some solid defending from Odhran, Paddy and Conor
kept Sacred Heart at bay and the lads held on for victory. A great game, and
fair play to Sacred Heart for playing their part.
PANEL: Kyle Daly, Sean Heffernan, Paddy Mackey, Loughlan
Flanagan, Odhran Power, Conor Daly, Adam Aspel, Izaak Richards, Aaron Meaney,
Ruaidhri McGarrity, Shane Purcell, Matti Tomczuk, Caolan MacCathmhaoil, Sean
Akewami, Conor Haley, Harry Flanagan.
The lads then headed off to Ardmore on Wednesday evening to
play the homeside, and this was a game of two halves. Ardmore came out in the
opening half and blitzed Ferrybank with score after score, and by half-time,
had built up a 2-09 to 0-3 lead.
Whatever was said at the break worked wonders for the team,
as Ferrybank came out all guns blazing, and began slowly eating into the
deficit, and edging into a 3-13 to 3-12 lead, and held on for the win.
A good week for the team, and they now have five wins from
five in the group. They have one game left to play away to Ballyduff Upper,
which takes place on Sunday August 25th at 12 noon.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL:
Our Junior Footballers were narrowly defeated by Dunhill in
the quarter-finals of the John J Murphy sponsored competition in Cleaboy last
Friday night on a score-line of 2-06 to 1-07.
Dunhill got a goal in the opening stages, but the lads
finally settled down, with three points on the trot, and just before half-time,
Sam Lawless goaled from close range to leave it 1-03 to 1-00 at the break.
Dunhill came more into it, and hit three unanswered points,
but the lads kept battling away, despite the bad conditions, hit further points
through Greg Murphy, Luke Flynn, Mark O' Brien and Kevin Hurley, to go four
clear, but Dunhill finished the stronger with two points, and as time ticked
down a mistake in the defence, left Dunhill in for a vital second goal to put
them into the lead, a lead which they didn’t give up.
It was a battling effort for the team on the night, and a
few crucial misses proved costly in the end.
COUNTY DUTY:
Well done to Helen Connolly and the Waterford Under 16 B Camogie
team that defeated Carlow in the All-Ireland Semi-final in Freshford on Sunday
afternoon, winning on a score-line of 3-17 to 1-05. They now play Limerick in
the final on Sunday August 25th.
