ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

UNDER 17 FOOTBALL:
It was another tough day for the U17 Footballers, as they were well beaten by St. Molleran’s last Sunday morning in Carrickbeg. With one match remaining in the group stages, it’s a must-win game against St. Saviour’s on Sunday March 10th.

UNDER 19 FOOTBALL:
Ferrybank’s U19 Footballers are in quarter-final action this coming Saturday March 2nd in the Whites Bar sponsored competition against Tramore at 3pm. This game is scheduled to take place in Cleaboy. Please come along and support the team on the day.

JUVENILE AWARDS PRESENTATION:
Last Saturday afternoon in the Parish Hall saw the presentation of medals to our underage section of the club. In front of a very large attendance, Waterford Senior hurling player Mark O' Brien came along and presented the medals to the Under 16 Footballers who won the County final, Under 15 East hurling final, Under 14 Hurling County winners, Under 13 Hurling, East & County and the Under 11 City League.
Mark also presented the annual player of the year awards to the following people, and many congratulations to the following, Under 10 Rory Simpson, Under 11 Conor Haley, Under 12 Adam Aspel, Under 13 Izaak Richards, Under 14 Ruaidhri McGarrity and Under 16 Lee Clarke.
An enjoyable night was had by all, and thanks to Mark who gave up his spare time to come along present the awards, and stood in for plenty of photos, and giving the future stars of GAA plenty of tips and advice for the coming years ahead.

CLUB NURSERY:
The club’s Nursery Programme continues each and every Saturday morning from 10am to 11am in the GAA grounds for boys and girls aged between 5 and 6 years old. The nursery programme teaches children the basic movements and skills required to play Gaelic games including agility, balance, coordination, running, jumping, throwing, kicking, striking and catching. All equipment, hurleys and helmets will be supplied.

COUNTY DUTY:
Hard luck to Mark O' Brien who was part of the Waterford Senior hurling team that was narrowly defeated by Dublin in Parnell Park last Sunday afternoon, also to Iona Heffernan and Niamh Ahearne from the Waterford Senior Camogie team that was defeated by Tipperary in the National League in Gracedieu on Sunday afternoon last.

DÉISE DRAW:
The 2019 Déise Draw will start on Wednesday April 24th. It will be the same format as last year, with six monthly draws at €15 per month, with first prize been €12,500; all the way down to prize number twenty. This is the club’s main source of income, with 70% of the sale of the ticket been retained by the club. So we would encourage everyone to support the Déise Draw.

ANGELA BURNS MEMORIAL 10K:
The fifth Angela Burns Memorial 10K Fun Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, April 14th at 11am, starting from the GAA grounds.
Once again, this event has been kindly sponsored by Harvey Travel, and we would like to thank Sean Power and his staff for their kind and generous sponsorship.
Registration is currently open, on www.totaltiming.ie, and its €15 for the runners (chipped) and €10 for the walkers. This event is open to everyone from marathon runners, joggers, walkers, pram pushers etc., and we would ask everyone to keep this date in your diary, and come along and enjoy this great day out.
