FÉILE NA NGAEL:
The 2016 John West Féile na nGael All
Ireland Under 14 hurling competition took place in Waterford and Tipperary last
Friday and Saturday. With over 160 teams taking part, Ferrybank hurlers were
paired with Eoghan Rua from Derry, St Enda’s Tyrone, and local club Stradbally.
Ferrybank opened up with a win over
near neighbours Stradbally on a scoreline of 1-08 to 0-04, they then followed
that win with another over St Enda’s of Tyrone by 8-06 to 3-01. On to Saturday
and the lads maintained their unbeaten run with a hard fought win over Eoghan
Rua of Derry on a scoreline of 1-07 to 1-04. It was then a trip to Strabally to
play Clasmore/Kinsalebeg in the quarter-finals, and the lads ran out winners by
1-05 to 0-03. The team set of on their travels to Fethard to play the home side
in the semi-finals, and unfortunately it’s where it came to an end, as Fethard
ran out clear winners on a scoreline of 3-10 to 0-01. What a weekend the
players had, and they enjoyed every minute of it.
A special word of thanks to the
Ferrybank Féile committee who ensured that their hosts Eoghan Rua were well
catered for during the weekend, to all the people who opened up their house and
accommodated them, and making them feel welcomed.
