Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes

PEADER’S SUMMER CAMP:
The 24th year running of the Peader’s Summer Camp will shortly be upon us, taking place at the Ferrybank GAA grounds from Monday July 20th to Friday July 24th from 10am to 2pm. The entire week will consist of learning and practising the skills of hurling, and will also include a tournament. In addition, there will be a few 'special guest stars' from the game of hurling making an appearance as the week goes on.
The week is open to all children, strictly between the ages of 5yr-15yrs. Once again, Kel-Tech engineering will come on board as sponsor, and a special thanks to Ray Breen for his kind generosity. Entry fee is €30 per child, and applications can be obtained from Garry Ryan Rockenham, Paul Martin Leaca Ard, Shane Ahearne Silverwood, Gemma O' Neill Farmlea, Breda O' Neill Abbey Park, Katrina Ryan St Killans Place, Breda Russell Slieverue.
Applications must be returned by Friday July 10th. Applications forms can also be downloaded from ferrybank.ie/notices/2015_peaders_app_form.pdf. Anyone wishing to be a coach for this year’s summer camp, applications forms can be obtained from Rosemary Heffernan. This is based on a first come first served basis, and the first twenty people will be accepted. As in line with standard practices, all adult coaches are expected to go through the Garda vetting process.

DÉISE DRAW:
Best of luck to all who have purchased Déise Draw tickets, as the June draw takes place next Friday night June 26th in Ballymacarby. Congratulations to Dominic McEvoy who was the club winner for May.

UNDER 7 HURLING:
The Ferrybank Under 7 hurlers took part in the De La Salle blitz last Monday evening. The fine weather brought out the best in the young Ferrybank stars, and in the opening game, the lads soared ahead and battered the De La Salle defence. In the second game, it was a much tougher affair, but the lads came out winners in the end. Well done to all the players, thanks to the parents for the massive support, and to De La Salle for hosting the games.
TEAM: Jacob Richards, Michaela Condon, Ciara Haley, Cliodhna McGarrity, Evan Mulhally, Daniel Roche, Mark Condon, Rory Simpson, Jack Hoban,

JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior hurlers were defeated by Erins Own in their latest game in the Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs sponsored competition in Poleberry last Friday night. Going into the game, Ferrybank were short a number of players, but the lads hung in there in the opening half, only trailing by three points. However, Erins Own pulled away in the second, building up a big lead, and despite a late rally including a goal from Ciaran Doyle, it was all in vain, as Erins Own ran out 2-13 to 1-11 winners. Next up for the Juniors is a home game against St Saviours on Friday July 3rd at 7:30pm.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
The Intermediate Hurlers will play St. Mollerans this coming Saturday night June 27th at 7pm in Walsh Park in the Championship. Another test awaits the team and your support will be welcomed on the night.

MINOR HURLING:
Our Minor hurlers begin their Championship campaign next Monday night June 29th at 7:30pm in Ferrybank against St. Marys.

KIT FOR KIDS:
The Super-Valu kit for kids programme is still in operation, and Ferrybank GAA club has been
one of the clubs nominated to take part. A shopper who spends €40 in any Super-Valu store will be given a token to place in a nominated club box. The promotion will run until July and hopefully the club can secure an O' Neills’ juvenile kit consisting of footballs, sliothars, bibs etc. So if you are doing your shopping, pop along to any of the Super-Valu stores. You can check on how the club is doing by logging onto www.facebook.com/caulfieldssupervalu?fref=ts or
