JUNIOR CAMOGIE:
Pride of place this week goes to the Ferrybank
Junior Camogie team who retained their County Junior League title with a
fantastic win over a gallant Portlaw side in Cleaboy on Sunday evening.
Ferrybank hit the ground running in the opening half, virtually on top in all
areas. Debbie Boden opened the scoring with a fine goal, receiving a pass from
Niamh Ahearne and planting the ball into the net. Niamh was causing the Portlaw
defence all sorts of problems and chipped in with a point, and moments later
scored a second goal, lobbing the ball over the Portlaw goalie for a fine goal.
Ferrybank kept the pressure up and three further
points from Orla O' Neill ensured Ferrybank went in 2-4 to 0-00 ahead at the
break. With the weather conditions worsening by the minute in the second-half,
Portlaw came more into it, but Ferrybank’s defence held firm with Iona
Heffernan, Aisling Oates and Laura Kinsella dominating their areas, and midway
through the half, Debbie Boden got her second goal and Ferrybank third with a
clinical finish, resulting in Ferrybank running out 3-04 to 0-00 winners.

received the trophy amid joyous scenes. Well done girls, hard work has been
rewarded. Thanks to Paddy McGrath who came in at the start of the year and
coached the team, and to Shiner and Nicky who assisted Paddy.

UNDER 12
HURLING:
Our under 12
hurlers got back to winning ways against Ballygunner last Wednesday night in
the City League. The lads knuckled down early
on to take the lead and played some fine hurling. Ballygunner gave as
good as they got, but the defence held firm throughout the game, while the
forwards took their chances to run out good winners on the night.
INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers opened up their
championship campaign with a comfortable win over Tramore last Saturday
afternoon in the Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs sponsored competition on a
scoreline of 2-19 to 0-07. Early points from Robbie Carew and John Ahern
settled Ferrybank. Despite Tramore levelling the game up with a couple of
frees, Ferrybank moved up a gear with points from Mark O' Brien, Eoin O' Neill,
Luke Flynn and a goal from Eoin O' Neill midway through the opening half, who
evaded his marker and planted the ball low into the corner of the net, to leave
Ferrybank 1-08 to 0-04 ahead at the break.
Ferrybank dominated the second-half and points from
Cormac O' Driscoll, Robbie Carew, Eoin O' Neill, Luke Flynn and a Mark O' Brien
goal in the closing stages sealed a good win for the team.
A solid display all round from Ferrybank, and the
lads now turn their attention to De La Salle next Saturday in Walsh Park at 2:30pm,
where no doubt a stiffer test awaits.

JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior hurlers were narrowly defeated by
Ballyduff Lower in their opening game in this year’s championship going down by
1-14 to 2-10 in Ferrybank last Saturday night. The opening exchanges were
keenly fought with little to separate both sides and points were traded with Ciaran
Doyle, Marin Freeman and James Murphy scoring good points for the home side.
Ballyduff edged into a three points lead, coming up
to the break, but Ciaran Doyle goaled from a 21 yard free to level it up. With
the game in the balance, Ferrybank were reduced to 14 men, but the lads upped
their game a points from Ciaran Doyle, Darryl Griffin, Jeff Lawless, and a
second goal from another '21 from Doylers had the game level but Ballyduff got
a late free to win the game, and claim the points. Hard luck lads, and they now
make the trip to play St. Mollerans next Friday May 15th at 7pm.
FIRST AID:
With the GAA season upon us, would all managers and

UNDER 14 FOOTBALL:
Our Under 14 Footballers are in semi-final action
on Monday 11th at 6:30pm against Gaultier in Ferrybank, where
your support will be appreciated. Best of luck lads.
UNDER 11 HURLING:
Our Under 11 hurlers are in action on Friday night May
15th with a home game against Na Gaeil at 6:30pm.
