MINOR HURLING:

Ferrybanks Minor Hurlers were well beaten by a much more stronger Clann NaGael side last Wednesday night in their open game in the Championship which was played in Dunhill. Missing a number of players didnt help the team on the night, as Clann NaGael (team consisting of three clubs Dunhill/Fenor/Butlerstown) took charge from the start, and opened the scoring with a point. Robbie Carew levelled it up minutes later, but the home side playing against the breeze put over three points to open up a lead. Midway through the opening half, Clann NaGael scored a goal to extend the lead to six points, but Ferrybank replied with points through John Ahern and Robbie Carew, but Clann NaGael put over another three points to lead 1-7 to 0-4 at the break. Clann NaGael finished the game as a contest early in the second half with a scoring burst of 2-3, Ferrybank kept battling away and MJ Sutton slotted over two points and Jeff Lawless with another, and despite been unlucky not to have scored a goal or two, it wasnt their night. Clann NaGael finished the scoring with a couple of points to run out 3-16 to 0-7 winners.
