GAA NOTES

JUNIOR HURLING: The Junior Hurling match between Ferrybank and St Mollerans scheduled to take place tonight has been POSTPONED and will now take place on TUESDAY 14th August in Ferybank at 7pm.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate Hurlers played Cappoquin in a challenge game in Ferrybank last night, and following a good game of hurling it finished all square at 2-13 to 1-16. This was a good workout for the team, against a good Cappoquin side who are going well in the Western section. Ferrybank started well with points from Mark Russell, Tommy Carew, Sam Lawless, and a good goal from Cormac Heffernan put them in control, but Cappoquin came strongly back into it with a number of good points. Further scores from Mark O' Brien, Mark Russell, Sam Lawless had Ferrybank leading 1-8 to 0-10 at the break. Cappoquin started the second half well with three quick scores, but points from Paul Martin, Sam, Mark Russell kept Ferrybank in it, before Sam Lawless with a excellent solo goal put Ferrybank three points clear, but Cappoquin responded immeadiately with a goal to level the game up and thats how it finished. Despite missing a few players through injuries, this was a good game for the team as they prepare for their quater final clash with Clonea on Aug 31st. Thanks to all who came along and suppored the team.
