HURLING MATCH REPORT FOR Under 7 YRS AT FERRYBANK GAA Grounds, Wednesday @7pm
The Ferrybank Under 5 hurling team played a match against Passage East at Passage East Hurling Alley on Wednesday 12th May 2010.
This was the Ferrybank U5 DEBUT as a team and Boy what a night for them. Although normally in the shadow of the older boys in the U7 panel the U5 lads got their chance to shine and they proved their point. With Sean Fagan in top form in goal, supported by defence comprising Daniel Griffin, Fionn McGarrity and James Mackessy not many a sliother got past them. Our midfield David Nawiesniak, Sean O’Neill & Izaak Richards dominated the centre of the Alley and provided the forwards Ryan Duggan and Michael McLawrence with ample opportunity to score. Izaak Richards stunned the Passage defence with 3 goals whilst Ryan Duggan was like a terrier in their goal mouth and scored another 1. Passage came back at us but in the end our boys held firm.
Thanks to Passage East who were excellent hosts and to the U5 TEAMS for a great night entertainment. It was fantastic to see the support for the kids and we look forward to welcoming Passage to Ferrybank for the return leg.
The kids had a ball and will be talking about this night in school so to all parents – please encourage your kids (from juniors infants) to participate regardless of their lack of hurling experience as the emphasis is placed on fun.
