GAA NOTES

MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minor Footballers played An Gaeltacht in the semi finals of the Minor Football championship last Monday week in Walsh park and ended all square after sixty minutes of action on a scoreline of 6pts each. This was an excellent performance by the players, considering the fact most of them were involved in a hurling match the night before. The date and venue for the replay has not yet been announced but there will be a county board meeting on Tuesday 6th April that will decide the venue. The lads are no doubt looking forward to the replay.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate Hurlers contuined there preparations for this years championship when they travelled to Ballybeg to play St Saviours last Saturday. Despite conceeding an early goal, the lads knuckled down and got a goal of there own through Martin Wickham, and points from Shane Sullivan, and Damien Heffernan made the game 1-5 each at half time. With conditions difficult to play hurling due to a swirling wind and slippery pitch our lads played very well in the second half and points from Mark Drennan, Shane Sullivan, and Damien Heff, gave us a three point victory on a scoreline of 1-10 1-7. This was a very good performance from the team and credit to the defence who played extremely well when the pressure was applied. This will give the players confidence in there game as they prepare for the first round of the championship against Portlaw on Friday April 23rd at 7pm in Dunhill. The Selectors, no doubt will have been heartened from the last two games in what they have seen from the players.
