Under 21 Hurling: Our Under 21 hurlers made there exit from this years championship where they were defeated by Portlaw in Walsh Park last Monday week on a scoreline of 4-9 0-5pts. Despite this defeat this was a very young team on view, and all will be under age for next season. The lads gave it there all on the night, and despite been 6pts down at half time, the team didnt give up, but to be fair they were up against a more experienced Portlaw side who scored two second half goals that made a difference to the game.
MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minor Footballers played An Gaeltacht at Walsh park last Tuesday night in the semi finals of this years championship and after sixty minutes of football the game ended all square on 6pts each. This was a great performance by the lads, considering the fact most of them were playing the previous night in U21 hurling. Following an excellent first half, the lads ran out of steam in the second half. The date and venue for the replay has not been announnced yet, but there is a county board meeting taking place on Tuesday night 6th, and hopefully they will be able to sort of the replay date. The players are looking forward to the rematch.
INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate Hurlers travelled last Saturday to play St Saviours in a challenge game in there build up for this years championship and came out victorious on a scoreline of 1-10 to1-7. Conditions werent the best with a slippery pitch and a strong wind blowing accross the pitch making life difficult for both teams to play good hurling. Despite conceeding an early goal the lads knuckled down and replied with a goal of there own through Martin Wickham which resulted in the game been all square at 1-5 each. In the second half we started of with two quick points and then had to face a period of pressure, which to there credit, the defence played superbly well. This was a very good performance from the team, and no doubt the selectors will have taken a lot of positives from this game.
