(see attached team picture and shots with Kevin Moran/Owen Bronnach training Ferrybank players in Carriganore.)

The Ferrybank squad played 4 teams(St.Saviours, Ballygunner,De La Salle ,Passage East) in the indoor event which they completed with great results from all their matches. They proceeded to Carriganore where most children had packed lunches before going for training in Carriganore. The training was provided by the GAA development staff and some of the Waterford Senior Panel in cluding Kevin Moran etc.

The new facilities for this centre of excellence will only enhance the skills on show from our players with Ferrybank GAA able to provide two teams for the under 8 category. The well laid out training patterns where very well applied to the children who responded to the training section of the day with genuine enthusiasm even do they had already played 4 matches earlier that morning.

The day was finished with three more matches which all our teams enjoyed. This new generation of Ferrybank players following in the traditions of the Club and Peadar Ahern at this age category will supply some very skillful players for the Demise if they continue to apply themselves to their Hurling homework but the foundations will only be laid at home with practice. It was a great Community effort and togetherness in the village to see so many new faces and a tribute to the parents/trainers getting from one venue to another on time.

Every challenge and instruction given by mentors was carried out and it was great to see the excellent behaviour of such young players. It should be mentioned that during the day we had Playing for the first time over 5 different nationalities playing side by side for Ferrybank GAA and each of the 5 coaches had a son participating as well with this in mind, it was brilliant to see the collective effort from recruitment and coaches to mould this squad/team. It is surely a positive time for the club to see so many wear the green and white with pride.

Special thanks to all the parents (especially the mothers and

Friends) who got the kids to the venue as we could not do this without your support. A special mention for the Ferrybank Boys & Girl’s School 1st/2nd/Senior & Junior infant class e.t.c which comprises the majority of the team and the good discipline and teamwork shown is a credit to their parents and teachers Ms. Doolin and Ms. Ryan (Boys) School– mentors involved in this core group of up and coming talented players. Coaches on the sideline for the day John Haley, Fintan Byrne, John Brophy, Conor Ahearne, Dave Butler.
