Junior Football

FINAL: Our Junior football team played Kilmacthomas last Saturday week in Carrigbeg in the final of the Eastern football. Despite being short of a few regulars we got off to a great start with a goal after just 3 minutes from Colm O Neill. However we failed to build on this lead and Kilmac enjoyed plenty of possession and scored 1-3 without a reply. Two scores before half time from Colm O Neill reduced our deficit to a point at half time. In the second half, Colm O neil equalised the scoring with a point and Eoin O Neill rattled the back of the Kilmac net with a goal. Despite long periods of possession we failed to take our scores and let Kilmac reduce the gap to a point with five minutes to go! However Marty (Tyrone) Freeman hit a womder score to put us two points up (Marty has being doing secret training sessions up in Tyrone under the watchful eyE of Micky Harte)and it surely paid dividends with that magic score. Another point by Greg Murphy put us 3 points clear. However . . . deep into injury time Kilmac got a goal to tie up the match and despite having one last chance we missed the target ! Replay has been set for Saturday 26th at 14.30 in Carrick.TEAM: James Troy, James Murphy, Gary Cody, Paul Martin, Damien Heffernan, Andrew Heffernan, Tommy Carew, John Byrne, Jason Henessessy Eoin O Neil, Colm O Neill,Jon Tracey, Greg Murphy, Marty Freeman, Daniel Sell,SUBS: Chris Hoban, Eddie Byrne, Brien Bartley,
