Our U 16 footballer scraped through what amounted to a do or die game against unbeaten St Olivers in the club grounds this morning. In a tense game St Olivers ran into a commanding four point lead at half time. While the Slip boys dominated position they kick a number of bad wides in the first half. The lads were determind to put things right in the second half and Cormac Hefferan scored an inspirational point from the throw in. The Slip lads were into there stride now and thanks to a good goal they pulled ahead. St Olivers hit back and the final 10 minutes were tense to say the least. Greg Murphy stepped up and gained much need posession in these final minutes to win two fees, one of which was converted. St Olivers had a close in free with the final kick of the game when a goal was needed. The low shot was cleared by Sam Lawless.
The lads have won 3 match, drawn 1 and lost 2 by low scores. Hopefully this will be enough to get them into the knock out stages.
