All-IRELAND MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONS:
Congratulations and well done to the Waterford Minor Hurling team on being crowned All-Ireland Minor Hurling Champions in Semple Stadium, Thurles last Saturday evening.
Throughout the campaign the team have been consistent with their performances, and their hard work has paid off, and no doubt, it has given the county a big boost. Well done to the management and the players.
JUNIOR HURLING:
Ferrybank’s Junior hurlers recorded a good win in their opening game in this year’s championship, defeating De La Salle on a score line 2-19 to 2-11. This was an entertaining game, with the result in doubt until the final few minutes, when a second Ferrybank goal sealed the win.
Both sides traded early points with Shane Oates and Conor Haley pointing for the homeside. However, De La salle got the opening goal when a long-range ball into the area wasn't cleared, and it was fired into the net from close range giving Kyle Daly in the goal no chance. Points from Shane Oates and Conor Haley kept the lads in touch. Ferrybank hit a purple patch with two fine long-range scores from Eddie Daly, and moments later player-manager Cian Martin goaled from close range with a first-time strike on the ground to put the team ahead. Ferrybank’s defence held well in the opening half, giving little away, and further points just before the break from Conor (2) and Shane ensured a 1-09 to 1-06 lead at the break.
Further scores from Conor and Shane extended the lead after the break to five, but De La Salle got right back into it with a goal to reduce the gap to two points. However, the lads kept their nerve and three unanswered scores from John Collins, Shane Oates, and Conor Haley brought the lead back out to five. De la Salle kept probing away, and a good save from Kyle Daly prevented a third goal, but they got the next three points to reduce the gap once again.
A fine point from the hard-working Greg Murphy kept the scoreboard ticking over, and with only three points in it, entering the closing minutes, the lads finished strong, with a point from Conor Haley and a goal from Shane Oates who drilled a low shot past the goalkeeper from close range. Two late points from Conor closed out a good win for the team, who will improve from this game as the season goes on. Next up for the Juniors is a trip to play Mount Sion on Sunday, July 6th at 12 noon.

UNDER 16 HURLING:
The combined Ferrybank/Erin’s Own side were well defeated by a good An Ghaeltacht side last Wednesday evening. Missing several key players didn't help, as An Ghaeltacht took control of the match from the start and were too strong for the combined side. Next up is a trip to Bushy Park tonight (Monday, June 30th) away to Bricky Rangers at 7pm.
MINOR HURLING:
Ferrybank/St Saviour’s start their Division 2 season this coming Wednesday, July 2nd with a trip to Colligan to play St. Patrick’s at 7:30pm. No doubt a tough opener for the team, and all support will be welcomed on the night.
UNDER 12 HURLING:
Our U12 hurlers continue their league campaign with a home game this Wednesday, start time is 6.15 in Ferrybank and all support is welcome.
UNDER 11 HURLING:
Our U11 hurlers recorded a win against De La Salle in Gracedieu on Monday evening last. Well done to all. Team on the night was Jake, Alex, David, Oisin, Harvey, Zac, Sam, Darragh M, Cody, Ben, Cian, Reece, Charlie, Max, Keenan, Joey, Connor P, Sean.
Next up for the team is a trip to Old Parish tonight (Monday, June 30th) for a blitz with Ardmore and St Saviours.
UNDER 9/10 HURLING:
Our under 9 and under 10 group will play Erins Own in a Go Games hurling match on Thursday evening in Poleberry.
WELL!KIDS:
Our very popular Well!Kids programme continues each Saturday in Ferrybank with a 10am start time. Open to boys and girls born in 2019, 2020, and 2021, this is an introduction to Gaelic Games with an emphasis on fun and participation.
COUNTY DUTY/CAMOGIE:
It wasn't to be for the Waterford Senior Camogie which contained Iona Heffernan and Niamh Ahearne, who were defeated by Galway in Athenry last Saturday afternoon. The team now turn their attention to a quarter-final clash against Clare in Croke Park this coming Saturday, July 5th at 2:30pm.
In the meantime, this coming week is a busy and important week for the Ferrybank Camogie teams with semi-final action this coming Tuesday and Thursday. On Tuesday, July 1st, our U12s are in action both home and away. The ‘Green’ team play Mount Sion in the Cup semi-final in Ferrybank at 6:30pm, while the ‘White’ U12 are also in action on Tuesday at 6:30pm with a trip to play Mount Sion also. Both U12 teams have had good league campaigns and have improved with each game. We would ask everyone to come out and show your support to the team on the night.
Also, this coming Thursday July 3rd the U16s are also in semi-final action against Gailltír at 6:30pm. Once again, the team have made steady progress throughout, and this will be a good test for the players. We would again ask everyone to come down and show your support. DÉISE DRAW:
The 2025 Déise Draw is scheduled to start on July 4th. There will be 5 draws @ €20 each, with the 1st prize a nice €12,500, 2nd prize €5k, 3rd prize €2,500, 4th prize €1k, 5th - 8th prize €500, 9th - 16th €250.
The Déise Draw is the club’s primary source of income for the year, with 70% of each ticket sold going back into the club funds for the day-to-day running.

WIN A HOUSE IN WATERFORD DRAW:
The final day to purchase a Win a House in Waterford ticket is Monday, July 14th, with the main draw taking place on Monday, July 28th.
