JUNIOR CAMOIGE: Our Junior Camoige side recorded an excellent win in Ferrybank last Sunday afternoon recording a win over a gallant Tallow on a scoreline of 3-3 to 1-0. Most of this win came in the first half with young Aoife Byrne is scoring form notching 2-1, with Iona Heffernan scoring the third goal from a long range free, ensuring Ferrybank lead by 3-1 to 0-0 at the break. Tallow came a lot more into the game in the second half, and the Ferrybank defence held firm on a numerous occasions. Tallow got a goal back to reduce the deficit, but excellent points from Aislinn O' Keeffe and Iona Heffernan sealed a good win for the team.
JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Our Junior Footballers suffered a cruel defeat in there second game at the hands of Roanmore, going down by the minimum margin of 1-11 to 0-13 last Friday night in Ferrybank. Despite missing a number of players for the game, Ferrybank lead this game for lonf periods only to see two late frees deprive them of a win. Roanmore opening the scoring with a point, but Ferrybank replied with some excellent points from long range through Taz Treacy, Kevin Hurley, Kevin Roche, Greg Murphy and going into the break, Ferrybank lead by 0-7 to 0-5. Two early points from Kevin Hurley and Kevin Roche extended the lead, but Roanmore always kept themselves in the hunt by reducing the gap with some good points. Midway throught the second half, Ferrybank lead by 5 with Jason Hennessey, Kevin Roche, Kevin hurley pointing, but Roanmore scored a crucial goal entering the closing minutes to reduce the gap. With time almost up, Roanmore snatched victory with two late frees to claim the points. This was tough on the players, because they gave it there all on the night, and deserved something from the game. The Footballers take a break until early June before the next game is scheduled to take place. INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate Hurlers play away to Eirns Own in Poleberry at 6:30pm on Saturday 19th April in the Hurling league.
UNDER 13 EAST FOOTBALL: Our Under 13 Footballers play away to Sacred Heart on Monday 21st April in Poleberry at 7pm.
MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minor Footballers play Ballyduff Upper in the quarter finals of the Division 3 Football Championship on Tuesday 22nd April at 7pm in Fraher field.
DEISE DRAW: The 2014 Deise draw will get underway on Friday 25th April. With 23 cash prizes available ranging from £10,000 euro for first prize all the way down to £150. The Deise draw will run for nine monthe and will cost 10 per month. Tickets are still available from Nicky Heffernan 087-6724212. 70% of each ticket sold by the club, goes directly back into Ferrybank Gaa club for the day to day running of the club. There will be also extra draws in May/June/July. So show your support and purchase a Deise draw ticket for the year.
HURLEYS FOR SALE: We ahve a number of 22" and 24" hurleys for sale at 10 euro's each, so please contact Rosemary on 087-7982990 if you are interested in purchasing one.
FERRYBANK 10K FUN RUN/WALK: The First ever 10k Ferrybank fun run/Walk will take place on Sunday May 11th at 11am from Ferrybank Gaa field, with registration taking place on April 28th & April 30th, May 7th & 8th and also on the day at 9am. Entry fee for the race is 10 euro. This event will cater for everyone, young and old, to runners, joggers, walkers, pram pushers etc. The race route has been confirmed, so please visit www.facebook.com/ferrybankfunrun for more details. As part of this event, we would ask all Ferrybank Gaa members to make some sandwichwes, Cakes etc and bring them along on the day. Also Volunteers will be required to help out in the day to assist with serving the refreshments or doing some Stewarding on the day.
