ALL IRELAND CLUB SEVENS

Ferrybank Gaa club travelled to Templeogue last Saturday to take part in the All Ireland Club 7's which was held at St Judes Gaa grounds. First up for the team was Kildorry from Cork, and this was a good game with Ferrybank finishing the stronger, running out 10-2 to 7-3 winners, with Sam Lawless (4-0), Eoin O' Neill (3-1), Cormac Heff (2-0), John Ahern (1-0), Greg Murphy (-1). Next up was Martin Lawlors from Dublin, and Ferrybank ran out good winners 7-4 to 1-4, with Sam (2-0),  John Ahern (3-1), Robbie Carew (1-1), Greg (-2). Match 3 saw Garryduff from Down as opponents, and Ferrybank were strong winners on a scoreline of 9-3 to 4-2, with Eoin O' Neill (1-0),  John (3-0), Gary Coady (1-0), Cormac Heff (2-0), Jo-Jo (1-0), Seamus Burtchaeil(-1), Greg(1-1), Sam(-1). In the final game of the Group, London's Robert Emmets were the opposition, but Ferrybank maintained their 100% record with a 6-5 to 3-2 win. Eoin O' Neill (3-0), John Ahern (2-1), Cormac Heff (1-1), Jo-Jo (-1), Sam (-1), Greg (-1). Onto the Quarter finals and Fullen Gaels of Manchester provided the opposition. This was a tough game, and two evenly matched teams, but in the end Ferrybank moved on to the semi finals with a 4-3 to 2-3 win, with John (2-0), Sam (-2), Cormac Heff (1-0), Robbie (1-1). Ferrybank moved onto the semi finals with Ahascragh form Galway standing in their way from a place in the final, but the Galway side proved a tough nut to crack running out 7-4 to 4-3 winners, with Sam (2-1), John (1-0), Gerg (1-1), Cormac Heff (-1). The weary legs began to catch up with the team, but a great day was enjoyed by the players & Supporters. Thanks to St Judes for providing a wonderful day, and had everything organised superbly.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Ferrybank's Junior Footballers will play Mt Sion in the semi final of the John J Murphy sponsored competition on Saturday Sept 21st at 2pm in Walsh Park.

MINOR HURLING: Ferrybank's Minor Hurlers will play Fourmilewater on Wed Sept 11th in Ferrybank at 6:30pm. Your support will be appreciated on the night.

COUNTY DUTY: With Mark O' Brien and MJ Sutton proud holders of All Ireland Hurling Medals, the lads follow in the footsteps of two other Ferrybank players who won All Ireland Minor medals for Waterford. In 1929, Paddy Rellis was on the victorious team, while in 1948 Brendan Foley was also on the winning Minor team in 1949.
