MINOR HURLING

Our Minor Hurlers recorded a crucial win over Ardmore last Tuesday night, in their third game of the County Minor Championship in Ferrybank on a scoreline of 4-16 to 2-17. Ferrybank got of to a great start with a goal from David Atkins in the opening minutes, but Ardmore came straight back into the game with a string of points. John Ahern had a excellent opening half with 3 goals to keep Ferrybank in the hunt, and the homeside lead by a point 4-6 to 2-11 at the break. The second half was a lot closer but Ferrybank took their points well, with Robbie Carew and Mark O' Brien the chief scorers, as Ferrybank ran out worthy winners, despite surviving a few scares late on. With a win and two draws in their opening three games, the Minors have put themselves into a good position to secure a knockout place. Next up is a trip to Tallow to play Cois Bhride on Wednesday August 21st at 7:30pm. Your support will be appreciated on the night.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:  Our Intermediate Hurlers travelled to played Carrick Swans last Tuesday night in a challenge game, and following a good game of hurling, the homeside ran out three point winners. The Swans started well, showing their Senior experience with some good scores but Ferrybank settled down, and put over some good scores of their own. Ferrybank played a lot better in the second half, enjoying a lot of posession and taking their points. No doubt the selectors would have satisfied with the performance on the night, espically playing against a good senior side, despite missing a number of regulars. For the record, the Swans ran out 4-21 to 2-24 winners on the night. Next up is a trip to play Moyle Rovers of Tipperary on Saturday August 17th at 7:30pm.
