Our Junior Footballers recorded a crucial win in their John J Murphy sponsored competition defeating Fenor on a 1-10 to 0-5 scoreline. In fairness, the scoreline could have been a lot closer, only for the home side missing some good scoring chances, while Ferrybank took theirs and ensuring themselves a place in the quater finals. Fenor opened the scoring only for Kevin Hurley to level it up. Fenor added two more points to increase their lead, and despite been on top, Fenor were guilty of some bad wides. Ferrybank weathered the storm, and four unanswered points from Phil Blake, Stephen Treacy, Luke Flynn, Kevin Hurley saw Ferrybank lead by 0-5 to 0-3. Another Fenor points reduced the gap, but right on half time Kevin Hurley, pointed to leave it 0-6 to 0-4 at the break. Phil Blake increased the lead after the break with a fine point, but Fenor replied with a point. At the game wore on, gaps in the field became wider and Ferrybank took their scores at crucial stages with Sam Lawless, and Kevin Hurley pointing to increase the lead to four points. Entering the closing minutes, Damien Walsh gathered a high ball just outside the square and planted the ball to the net. Almost immeadiately, Fenor had a great chance of a goal only for the post saving Ferrybank. Kevin Hurley pointed the final score of the game with a well taken score.
