INTERMEDIATE HURLING:

Our Intermediate Hurlers played Roanmore in a challenge game in Ferrybank this morning, and following a good game of hurling, Ferrybank ran out 1-17 to 1-12 winners. Despite missing a couple of regulars, this was a good workout for the team, with some good scores taken by the players. Early points from Cormac O' Driscoll and Sam Lawless put Ferrybank into an early lead before Roanmore replied with a point. Further points from Mark Russell (-2), John Ahern, Sam Lawless(-2) put Ferrybank -7 to -3 ahead. Roanmore missed a few frees that could have reduced the gap in the first half, and as the half drew to a close Robbie Carew,  Mark Rusell, Cormac O' Driscoll added further points to leave it 0-10 to 0-5 at the break. In the second half, Ferrybank  missed a few scores that should have extended the lead, and Roanmore got back into the game with a goal from a free in, which wasnt cleard by the Ferrybank defence. But Ferrybank replied with points from Phil Blake, Robbie Carew, Mark Russell to extend the lead. Ferrybnk were awarded a penelty, and Mark Russell shot was saved, but John Ahern was first to react a planted the sliothar into the net. Late points from Sam and Mark saw Ferrybank run out deserving winners.
