UNDER 5 & 8 HURLING: Ferrybank under 5 & 8 hurlers played Sacred Heart on Saturday last. Under 5 team: Fionn McGarrity, Dylan White Carton, Connor Daly, Kyle Daly, Deacon Purcell, Michael MacLawrence, Jessie Byrne, Adam Sinnott, Alex Burke- Derham. UNDER 8 TEAM: Jake Butler, Alex Byrne, Mathew O' Sullivan, Jamie Sutton, Eddie Daly, Ruaidhri McGarrity, Shane Oates, Kyle O' Brien, Deacon Purcell, Izaak Richards, Daniel Griffin, Ross Burke-Derham, Sean Heffernan. Ferrybank dominated the under 5 game and the kids had a ball. The under 8 game proved a much tougher gig, but the lads fought to the very end. Thanks to Sacred Heart who were excellent hosts, and to the teams for a great days entertainment. Well done lads, as always thanks to the parents for their support. Training at Ferrybank gaa pitch located across from the post office and down Abbeylands road on the right hand side. Under 8 Training Wednesdays at 6:30pm and 10am on Saturdays. Under 4/5 Training 10am Saturdays. With the new school year approaching, why not start your child at Ferrybank gaa club. CONGRATULATIONS: To Mark O' Brien who lined out for Waterford under 16 hurling team in their win over Clare last Saturday in Bansha. No doubt many more days like this lies ahead for this very talented hurler.
INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate hurlers played Kilmacow in Ferrybank last Friday night, and following a good game of Hurling, it was the visitors who emerged winners on a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-10. Despite misssing a couple of players, Ferrybank found the going tough, espically in the first half, as a more sharper Kilmacow side led 1-8 to -5pts at the break. Points from Chris Hoban(2), Eoin O' Neill(2), Sam Lawless were Ferrybank scores, with Kilmacow goal coming midway through the first half. Ferrybank improved in the second half with their hurling, but each time their registered a score through Damien Walsh, Phil Blake, Eoin O' Neill and Brendan O' Meara,Kilmacow replied with one of their own. A second goal just before the finish, sealed the win for Kilmacow, with Eoin O' Neill replying with a good goal for the home side. Thanks to all who came along and supported the team on the night. Next challenge game Wednesday night in Ferrybank at 7:30pm against Carrick Swans.
