GAA NOTES

INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate hurlers registered their third successive win in this years Eastern Championship with a 2-12 to -13pt win over Tramore in Fenor last night. This was a super win by the lads, and they should great attitude, espically in the second half when they were reduced to 14 men, and Tramore had closed the gap to two points and playing with the strong breeze. Damien Walsh opened the scoring with a fine point, but was quickly cancelled out by Tramore, but a minute later Cormac Heffernan rifled the ball to the Tramore net following a great run. Points from Cormac O' Driscoll, Eoin O' Neill, Sam Lawless, and Cormac Heffernan put Ferrybank into a five point lead. Ferrybank got their second goal midway through the first half, when James Murphy latched on to a loose ball and put it into the Tramore net. Further points from Sam and Cormac in the first half had the villagers seven points clear at the half way stage. With the breeze aiding Tramore in the second half, they quickly started to eat into the Ferrybank lead, and things got a bit worse when Ferrybank were reduced to 14 men early in the second half. But following a bit to re-jigging, Ferrybank soon settled and Chis Hoban put over a point to extend the lead to three points. Three quick scores in three minutes from Chris(2), and Sparky put Ferrybank six points clear and this gave the team great heart, and with the defence playing superbly well, they gave little away and protected the goal well. Another point from Chris Hoban in the last few minutes finished our scoring on the night. Overall this was a very good win against a strong Tramore team, and considering they had their backs to the wall in the second half, they weathered the storm, got back to play some excellent hurling. Thanks to all who came along and supported the team on the night.
