ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

KEARNEY’s CATERING ALL-COUNTY HURLING LEAGUE:

Our Senior hurlers concluded their All-County Hurling League campaign last Friday with a defeat to Tramore. The team were slow to start with Tramore making the early running, but they slowly clawed their way back into it, with scores from Robbie Carew, Fionn McGarrity, Harry Flanagan, and Caolán Mac Cathmhaoil. However, on the stroke of half-time, Tramore got a goal to lead by six at the break.

As the second half wore on, Tramore held a comfortable lead, and despite a goal from Caolán Mac Cathmhaoil, it wasn't enough to close the gap at full time. The team have now concluded their league, and the focus now turns to the Championship season, which commences on July 12th.

COUNTY DUTY/CAMOGIE:

Well done to Iona Heffernan, Niamh Ahearne, and the Waterford Senior Camogie side on a solid win over Derry last Saturday afternoon, and made it two from two, with Niamh chipping in on the scoreboard. Next up for the team is a home game against Dublin on June 21st. The half time break saw the Ferrybank Under 8s play in a blitz which involved several clubs taking part.

The U14 Camogie team maintained their unbeaten run going with a good win in Portlaw last Tuesday, and with top spot guaranteed, now take their place in the knockouts stage.

Meanwhile, Ferrybank Camogie club are hosting a fundraiser blitz in the GAA grounds on July 6th. There will be sixteen teams coming all over the South East, taking part in four age categories. There will be plenty of prizes on offer, and its €10 entry, with all money raised going towards the Camogie club. No doubt, there has been a lot of hard work put in over the last couple of years, and with excellent growing numbers coming down week in week out, we would ask everyone to support this worthy cause.
