ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes

RE-OPENING OF GAA GROUNDS:

Last Monday week saw us re-open our club grounds, and like all other clubs in the county, it was with great delight and relief. Prior to opening the Grounds, we followed all the protocols in line with the GAA directives, with players, parents, mentors and COVID-19 supervisors having to complete the GAA online module regarding the safe return to Gaelic games. We would ask everyone involved to adhere to all of these guidelines.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:

With a shorter GAA season in all grades, the revised Intermediate hurling Championship draw was made last Monday night, with Ferrybank drawn to play Portlaw, which is scheduled to take place on the weekend of July 24th – July 26th.

All teams are guaranteed just two games, so there is no margin for error. The losers of this game will play the losers of St. Saviours and St. Mollerans.

JUNIOR HURLING:

The John J Murphy sponsored competition has seen Ferrybank paired with Butlerstown, Tramore and St. Saviours, with the top two in each group qualifying for the semi-finals.

MINOR HURLING:

The 2020 Minor Hurling Championship will commence on August 1st with Ferrybank paired with St. Saviours and Erin’s Own in Division Three.

MINOR FOOTBALL:

The Minor Football championship, which originally started in February, will re-commence on Monday August 24th with Ferrybank playing away to St. Saviours at 7:30pm.

Back in February, Ferrybank had travelled to Cappoquin to play the homeside and recorded a fine 4-05 to 2-03 win, so that result still stands.

UNDER 15 HURLING:

The Déise in Dublin sponsored competition will start on Friday July 17th with Ferrybank playing Tramore at home at 5:30pm. Other teams in the group are Mount Sion, Ballygunner, Sacred Heart, St. Marys, Roanmore and Passage.

CAMOGIE:

Ferrybank Intermediate Camogie team have been grouped with Modeligo and An Rinn in the Hooper Dolan Insurances sponsored competition, with the opening game scheduled for August 1st.

KELLOGG'S CÚL CAMPS:

The 2020 Kellogg’s Cúl Camp will take place in Ferrybank GAA grounds from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th August. The Cúl Camp is for Children between the ages of 6-13 years old. It will start from 10am until 2pm. You can book online at https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/

DÉISE DRAW:

The 2020 Déise draw will commence on August 26th. It will be the same format as last year, with six draws, costing €15 per draw. Like every year, this is the club’s main source of income, where 70% of ticket sales is retained by us, which goes towards the main day-to-day running of the club. We hope that everyone will sign up, and support the Déise Draw.
