As the week goes on, there will be a plenty of guest stars making an appearance at the summer camp offering the children some tips and advice on Ireland’s national game.

JUNIOR HURLING:
Ferrybank’s Junior hurlers recorded back to back wins following Saturday’s victory over table toppers St. Paul’s in the John J Murphy sponsored competition with a 1-19 to 1-08 win. The opening exchanges were evenly contested with Ciaran Doyle scoring two points to level the game up. However, the second quarter saw Ferrybank take a grip on the game, with the half-backs and midfielders getting on top, setting up scoring chances for the forwards with Philly Blake, Tony Heffernan, Darryl Griffin, Ciaran Doyle and Tommy Carew all contributing to the scoreboard. At half-time Ferrybank led by 0-11 to 0-04.
Ferrybank continued the second-half on top, and with Greg Murphy, Alex Kinsella and Philly registering scores, St. Paul’s gave themselves a lifeline, when a long range free sailed all the way into the Ferrybank net to reduce the gap to six points. Tony Heffernan saw his goal bound shot from close range just go over the bar. However, moments later, Tony got his goal, when Alex Power found Philly Blake, and Philly went on his trademark solo, leaving a few St. Paul’s players trailing before hand passing to Tony who slotted the ball into the net. Closing points from Quinny and the impressive Philly saw Ferrybank run out worthy winners.
A good display from the team, with everyone doing their job, and they can now turn their attention to next Thursday night with an away game to Clonea at 7:30pm.
