ABP sponsored Ferrybank GAA Weekly Notes



UNDER 8 HURLING:
Our Under 8 hurlers welcomed Roanmore to Ferrybank last Monday night for a blitz. The Roanmore teams proved strong, but well done to the team for putting in a superb effort, winning two of the four games, especially the last match, when trailing by four goals at the break, the lads made a great comeback in the second-half, winning by a goal.

UNDER 12 HURLING:
Well done to the Under 12 hurlers who made the trip to play Ballygunner in the City League last Friday night, and recorded a fantastic 1-08 to 0-03 win over the homeside.

UNDER 13 HURLING:
Our Under 13 hurlers play St. Saviour’s in Ferrybank this coming Monday night July 3rd at 7pm.

UNDER 16 HURLING:
Our Under 16 hurlers are in action this coming Wednesday night July 5th, where they travel to play Clonea at 7pm. Having won their opening game, the lads will be keen to maintain their unbeaten record, and your support will be welcomed.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL:
Ferrybank’s Junior Footballers play away to Erin’s Own in their third game in the John J Murphy sponsored competition this coming Friday night July 7th at 7:30pm.

DÉISE DRAW:
It’s not too late to get involved in the 2017 Déise Draw, with the next draw taking place on Wednesday July 12th in Stradbally. With a 1st prize of €12,500, 2nd prize €3,500, 3rd & 4th Prize €1,000 all the way down to prize 21.
Tickets cost €15 per draw, and there is another 4 draws to take place. With the club retaining 70% of the sale of the ticket, this money goes towards the day to day running of the club's expenditure. Tickets can be purchased from any committee member, or by contacting, 087-6724212.

PEADAR’S SUMMER CAMP:
The 26th Annual Peadar’s Summer Camp will be shortly upon. Ireland’s oldest and most popular summer camp takes place on Monday 17th to Friday 21st July from 10am to 2pm. Once again, this event has been kindly sponsored by Kel-Tech Engineering, and the summer camp is grateful to Ray Breen for his kind and continuous sponsorship of this camp.
It costs €30 per child, and applications can be downloaded from https://www.dropbox.com/s/nh959s1xsvorxre/Peadars_2017App_Form.pdf?dl=0 , or alternatively you can register on the morning. There will be an induction day this coming Saturday July 8th from 11am to 1pm in the Ferrybank GAA grounds, and this is an essential part of our camp, and all helpers must take part on the day.
A huge thanks to all who supported the benefit night in Flynn’s Bar last Friday night, and thanks to Pat Cooney for providing the music, when a great night was had by all.

KELLOGG’S CÚL CAMP:
The Kellogg’s Cúl Camp 2017 will take place in the Ferrybank GAA grounds from Monday 14th to Friday 18th August form 10am-2:30pm. This is open to primary school children aged between 6 and13 years of age.
Activities during the week will include hurling, camogie, football and rounders. Bookings can be made online at https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/ or applications forms can be obtained in the Boys’ and Girls’ national schools, or contact 087-7982990.

CLOTHING COLLECTION:
The Clothing collection is still continuing, right up to the 12th August. So, if you have any of the following lying around at home that you want to get rid of, please drop them down to the club....

- Laptops *
* Mobile phones and laptops to be kept in a separate bag please.

COUNTY DUTY:
It was a busy weekend for some of the Ferrybank players who were representing the County at the weekend, and well done to Mark O' Brien and the Waterford senior hurling team that defeated Offaly last Saturday afternoon in Tullamore.
It was hard luck to Iona Heffernan, Valerie O' Brien and Niamh Ahearne who were part of the Waterford Senior Camogie team that were defeated by Galway last Saturday afternoon. Also, hard luck to Grainne Heffernan who lined out for the Waterford Junior Camogie side that were defeated by Dublin in Walsh Park last Saturday

CLUB NURSERY:
The Club Nursery continues every Wednesday night at 6pm, and Saturday mornings at 10am in the Gaa grounds. Everyone is most welcome to attend from 5 to 6 years of age. All boys and girls will be shown the skills of our national game, and it’s a great way to meet new friends. Hurleys and helmets are supplied on the day.
