Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes

CONDOLENCES:
There was wide spread grief and sadness in Ferrybank at the weekend over the passing of Margaret Browne, nee Flynn. The club would like to express our since sympathies to her husband Noel, her daughter Kelly, her son Jono, and to her parents, brothers, sisters and extended family. The Browne and Flynn families are well respected in the community, and are involved in the local GAA and soccer club. Margaret’s passing will leave a huge void in the community. Ar Dheis de go raibh a h-anam.

UNDER 15 FOOTBALL:
The club's Juvenile playing season came to an end in Carriganore on Sunday morning, where the Under 15 footballers completed a double as they were crowned County Champions with a thrilling 4-05 to 2-03 over a good St. Patrick’s side.
This is a fantastic achievement for this young team, and great credit has to be given to all involved in John Burns, Davy Butler, John Haley and John Brophy. Having defeated the same opposition in the hurling final, St. Pat’s came flying out of the traps, scoring two quick goals, but the team never panicked, and went into the half-time break leading by two points, thanks to a goal from Paul Hondanu and two points from Luke Butler.
The second-half was end-to-end, with both sides having chances, but crucially goals from Fortune Ndlovu and Nathan Carton won out the day.
Team captain Ben Fitzpatrick accepted the cup on the team’s behalf amid joyous scenes.

PANEL: Majiek Tomczuk, Jake Brophy, Ben Fitzpatrick, John Collins, Charlie Atkins, Nathan Lawlor, Ryan Tierney, Paul Hondanu, Eimhin Burns, Ola Akinjewe, Luke Butler, Nathan Carton, Reece Phelan, Cian Martin, Fortune Ndlovu, Glen Power, Charlie McLaughlin, Pawel Tomczuk, Jack Keogh-Moran, Stephen Imrien.

Congratulations also to Cian Martin who was selected as Man of the Match by the County Board representatives in the recent Under 15 hurling final in Dungarvan. Cian was selected for his brave and excellent display of goalkeeping skills on the day, contributing to a brilliant overall team display. Great credit is also due to Paddy and Niall Mackey who put Cian through his paces during the summer.
