Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers opening game against Dunhill has been put back until Sunday May 22nd at 2pm, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

JUNIOR HURLING:
The Junior Hurlers opening game in this year’s championship was abandoned at half -ime, when the St. Mollerans’ defender picked up an injury, and we wish him a speedy recovery, prior to that, Ferrybank were in control of the game with goals from Alex Power, Tiernan Morrissey, Jeff Lawless had put them into a clear lead. Unfortunately, the injury to the St. Mollerans’ player ended the game, but the team can take heart from their opening half performance when they make the trip to play Fenor next Friday night May 13th at 7pm, and your support will be appreciated.

GOLF CLASSIC:
The 8th annual Gerry Ryan memorial golf classic takes place on Friday May 27th at the Waterford Golf Club. Entries are now open, and you can contact Andy Ryan 086-3938993 for a tee time. It’s a 3 person team event, with the tee reserved until 5:15pm. Entry fee is €20 per player, while student/unwaged can play for €10 before 11am. Prize giving will take place in Flynn's bar that evening. So now is the time to form a team, enjoy the day, and contact Andy for your tee off time.

UNDER 12 HURLING:
Ferrybank travelled to Tramore tonight to play in the U12 hurling City League. What a match this turned out to be.
Tramore were leading by 2 points at half-time, but Ferrybank soon discovered the art of hooking and thwarted Tramore's efforts. Despite the list of injures our lads suffered during this hotly contested game they battled to the end securing the victory.
Final score, Tramore 0-08 to Ferrybank 2-03. A narrow margin, but well deserved given the heroic effort put in. Well done again lads.

DÉISE DRAW:
The next Déise draw will take place on Friday May 27th at Fenor, and it’s not too late to get involved, with 29 cash prizes up for grabs, ranging from €10,000 first prize all the way down to €100, so if you would like to be part of it, and support Gaelic games in Ferrybank, you can purchase a ticket which cost €10 per month from Tony Power 086-4169215, Pat O' Meara 087-2108890, Nicky Heffernan 087-6724212.

UNDER 16 FOOTBALL:
Our Under 16 footballers travelled to play Cois Bhride last Thursday night, and came away with a share of the spoils, with the game ending 2-13 each. It could have been a lot better for the team, as the home levelled the game up with a goal in the final seconds. Well done lads on a great display
