Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes



UNDER 11 HURLING:
The Under 11s continued their current run in the Division 3 City League with a good win over De La Salle ‘B on Friday last in Ferrybank. The game was played in perfect conditions with some good hurling from both sides.
Ferrybank gradually took control of the game and led at half-time. The second-half continue in the same way with our defenders cutting out the DLS chances and our forwards taking some nice scores.

JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior Hurlers recorded their opening win in this year’s John J Murphy sponsored competition with a hard fought win over a determined Fenor side last Friday night, winning on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-10.
There wasn’t a lot between the sides in the opening half, with Jeff Lawless scoring some good points from placed balls, ensuring Ferrybank led by 0-09 to 0-05 at the break.
Ferrybank kept the scoreboard ticking over in the second-half, taking their scores with Jeff, and James Murphy doing the damage with three points each, and Jamie Diggins chipping in with a vital score, leaving seven between the sides entering the closing stages.
Fenor closed the gap with 1-01 late on, but the defence held firm when it mattered to record a deserved win.

Next up for the Juniors is a home game next Friday night against Ballyduff Lower at 7:30pm.

UNDER 14 FOOTBALL:
Our Under 14 Footballers are in knockout action this coming Wednesday night away to Roanmore at 6:30pm, and your support will be appreciated on the night.

GOLF CLASSIC:
Due to fixture congestion in the GAA calendar, the Gerry Ryan Memorial Golf Classic will now take place on Friday June 24th at the Waterford Golf club.

FERRYBANK GAA DÉISE DRAW:
Tickets can still be purchased for the Ferrybank GAA Déise draw which takes place on Friday May 27th in Fenor GAA grounds, with 29 cash prizes on offer ranging from a first prize of €10,000 all the way down to €100, why not try your luck, and purchase a ticket, which cost €10 per month from Tony Power 086-4169215, Pat O' Meara 087-2108890, Nicky Heffernan 087-6724212, and you will be continue to keep Gaelic Games alive in Ferrybank.

NURSERY HURLING GROUP:
Training continues for the nursery group every Saturday morning at 10am for boys and girls aged between 5 and 6 years of age. The club nursery programme teaches children the basic movements and skills of Gaelic games. It’s also a great way to introduce new children and parents to the club. Hurleys and helmets will be supplied on the day.

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers begin their championship campaign this coming Sunday May 22nd against Dunhill at 2pm. No venue has been confirmed yet, so keep an eye on the social media page for further information. No doubt a stiff test awaits the team, and your support will be welcomed.

MUNSTER CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS:
Anyone wishing to obtain tickets for the Munster semi-final clash with Clare on Sunday June 5th, could you please advise Pat O' Meara 087 210 8890 by Friday May 20th. Ticket prices are as follows, Covered Stand €30, Uncovered Stand €25, Terrace €20, Juvenile, Under 16's all areas €5. Group passes are provided for groups of Juvenile, Under 16's €3 each + 1 Adult free with every 10. Applications must be made and sent to Mary.O'Mahoney.munster@gaa.ie by May 30th.
