Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes

UNDER 14 HURLING:
Our Under 14 hurlers recorded a thrilling one point win over Ballygunner last Monday night winning on a scoreline of 5-07 to 4-09. The lads showed tremendous character throughout the game, and fought hard to keep their opponents at bay. Next up for the team is this coming Tuesday night August 4th with a trip to Poleberry to play Sacred Heart.

JUNIOR HURLING:
It’s a crucial week for the Junior Hurlers as they play two very important games which will define their season. First up is Monday night August 3rd, with a trip to play Dunhill at 7pm, followed by another trip to play Butlerstown on Saturday August 8th at 7pm. The lads will need to win one of these games in order to book a quarter-final spot. Your support will be crucial to the team.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL:
Our Junior Footballers recorded win number six in this year’s John J Murphy sponsored competition with an emphatic 4-14 to 0-04 win over St. Pauls in Lisduggan last Friday night. The lads were in total control from the start leading 1-08 to 0-01 at the break with Damien Ahern scoring the goal from close range. In the second-half, Ferrybank introduced Colm O' Neill, and he hasn’t lost his touch as he scored three excellent goals, but his joy was short lived when he picked up a serious injury, and all at Ferrybank GAA club wish Colm a speedy recovery. This result ensures the lads have qualified for the semi-finals.

MINOR CAMOGIE:
Our Minor Camogie team play De La Salle this coming Thursday night August 6th in Ferrybank at 7:30pm.

SPONSORSHIP:
Ferrybank GAA club would like to express its appreciation to Brian Flynn of Flynn’s Bar who kindly sponsored a new set of Jerseys for the Junior Camogie team.

DÉISE DRAW:
We had one winner in the July Déise draw which took place last Friday night in Kilgobnet. Congratulations to Tom McDermot, Bishopsgrove, who won €250 in the draw. Once again, many thanks to all who purchased tickets for the draw. Next draw takes place in Modeligo on Friday August 28th.
