UNDER 11 HURLING:
Ferrybank Under 11 hurlers played their final City League game last Friday evening against St. Mollerans. St. Mollerans opened the scoring in this game after only 10 seconds, but Ferrybank took over on the scoring front after the first ten minutes courtesy of a goal from Shane Egan, with points from Ruaidhri and Jamie. The first-half was a very close affair and Caolan saved at least 3 goals and managed to target his puck outs to the Ferrybank players.
However, St. Mollerans did win a lot of possession and continued to hammer the Ferrybank defence, but Odhran, Joe and the half-backs Izzak and Sean Heff thwarted their efforts. At half-time Ferrybank were two point up but St. Mollerns, with their mass of home support, came out all guns blazing and scored a quick goal and a point.
The gravity of the situation obviously dawned on the Ferrybank players as they gelled together as a well–oiled machine and they retaliated; half-backs Izzak & Sean Heff provided a constant supply of sliothar to midfielders Jake and Shane Purcell who started to dominate the midfield. Ruaidhri , Shane Egan, the Two Daniels and Jamie then launched a coordinated attack on the homeside goal… this resulted in another 2 goals and 4 points. St. Mollerans did manage another goal but there was no way back now for the home side. Ferrybank emerged the victors and cemented their pole position of the City League Div 3.
Final score:   St. Mollerans 2-03 to Ferrybank 3-06.
Ferrybank U11 mentors would like to express their gratitude and admiration for this team and the commitment the players have shown over the entire City League campaign. Special mention to those player who did not play in this game but contributed so much in the other matches Alex Byrne, Sean Fagan and Mati Tomczuk. Well done to all the players.

JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior Hurlers recorded a crucial win in their latest championship game last Friday night over St. Saviours on a scoreline of 3-12 to 1-14. It was a game of two halves with Ferrybank on top in the first, and had to repel a strong St. Saviours fightback in the second.
Alex Power scored an early goal to put Ferrybank on their way, and with Ciaran Doyle scoring three points, things looked good for Ferrybank. St. Saviours replied with a couple of points, but another Alex Power goal, scoring from close range, extended the lead.
Ferrybank took their chances every time they attacked, and Alex got his hatrick, and Ferrybank’s third goal with another close range effort. Further points from James Murphy, Cian MacCathmhaoil and Pat O' Neill had them leading 3-10 to 0-07 at the break.
St. Saviours took over in the second-half and began to close the gap with some points as Ferrybank began to struggle, and the gap closed to five points when they scored a goal. Ciaran Doyle and James Murphy scored vital points to relieve the pressure, and despite a late rally from the visitors, Ferrybank held on for a vital win.
The results keeps the Juniors in with a good chance of reaching the knockout stages and next up is another crucial game against Portlaw next Friday July 10th in Ferrybank at 7:30pm.
TEAM: John Brown, Tiernan Morrissey, Paul Martin, Paul Carew, Dean Phelan, Pat O' Neill (0-01), Alex Kinsella, Jeff Lawless, Cian MacCathmhaoil, James Murphy(0-03), Tony Heffernan, Jason Hennessey(0-01), Ciaran Doyle(0-06), Greg Murphy, Alex Power(3-00).

INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers were defeated by Ballygunner in the Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs sponsored competition in Walsh Park last Saturday afternoon on a scoreline of 0-17 to 0-11.
Missing a number of key players going into the game, and then losing Mark O' Brien early through injury was a blow to the team, as Ferrybank struggled throughout the game to find any rhythm. With the breeze at their backs in the opening half, Ferrybank found it hard going, relying on Eoin O' Neills frees to keep them in the game, and Shane O’ Sullivan scored their only point from play in the opening half. Tommy Carew had a good chance for a goal only to see his close range effort saved by the Balllygunner goalie. Ballygunner lead by 0-07 to 0-06 at the break.
Ballygunner extended the lead in the second-half, but a slight improvement from the lads, saw them reduce the gap to three points with Oisin MacCathmhaoil, John Ahern and Shane O’ Sullivan contributing to the scoreboard, but Ballygunner closed out the match with three further points. No doubt this was a very disappointing team performance and the team must turn their attention to their final game against Erins Own on Friday July 17th in Walsh Park at 7:45pm.
TEAM: Conor Hogan, Nicky Ryan, Damien Ahern, David Atkins, Shane O’ Sullivan (0-02), Mark O' Brien, Graham Coady, Phil Blake, Luke Flynn, Cormac O' Driscoll, MJ Sutton, Oisin MacCathmhaoil(0-01), Tommy Carew, Eoin O' Neill(0-07), John Ahern(0-01), Pat O' Neill.

MINOR HURLING:
Our Minor Hurlers were defeated by St. Marys in their opening game in this year’s championship campaign last Monday night. Following a bright start by the team, and leading by five points midway through the opening half, courtesy of a Darryl Griffin goal, St. Marys took over and scored 1-07 to lead 1-09 to 1-05 at the break.
St. Marys came out quicker in the second-half, and put over 1-03 in no time to put daylight between the sides and despite further goals from David Atkins, Darryl Griffin and Tiernan Morrissey, St. Marys ran out clear winners on a scoreline of 6-17 to 4-07.
Next up is a trip to play St. Saviours on Tuesday July 14th at 7:30pm.
