Ferrybank GAA - Weekly Notes

EXAMINATION TIME:
It’s hard to believe it’s that time of the year again, with the Junior and Leaving cert exams getting underway on Wednesday. On behalf of Ferrybank GAA club, we would like to wish all everyone the very best of luck.

UNDER 11 HURLING:
The stakes were high on Friday night for the Ferrybank Under 11 hurlers in their fifth match of the City League against Ballygunner and yet again our lads did not disappoint.
Playing at home and spurned on by the great support, Ferrybank took an early lead. The game was very close and at half-time we led by 2 points.
Ballygunner came out all guns blazing in the second-half and rattled our defences but the solid defence and excellent goalkeeping from young Caolan kept them at bay.
Ferrybank emerged the victors in a very close game. Well done to both teams.
Panel

GOLF CLASSIC:
Not too long to go folks for the seventh annual Gerry Ryan Memorial Golf Classic taking place on Friday June 12th at the Waterford Golf club. It’s a three person team event, with entry fee of €25 per person (no meal included), €20 for members of the Waterford Golf club and Student/Unwaged €10 (must tee off before 11am).
Prize giving afterwards is taking place in the Mandarin Palace. The timesheet is currently now open, and you can contact Andy Ryan 086-3938893 for a time, but be quick as the timesheet is filling up nicely, so book now to avoid disappointment.
If you would like to sponsor a tee box for €20, you may do so by contacting any of the committee.

MINOR HURLING:
The Minor hurlers will get their championship campaign underway on Monday June 29th at 7:30pm home to St. Marys.

KITS FOR KIDS:
The SuperValu kit for kids programme is currently underway and Ferrybank GAA club has been one of the clubs nominated to take part. A shopper who spends €40 in any SuperValu store will be giving a token to place in a nominated club box. The promotion will run until July and hopefully the club can secure an O' Neills Juvenile kit consisting of Footballs, Sliothars, Bibs etc.
So pop along to any of the SuperValu stores and do your shopping, and hopefully we can secure the kit for kids. You can check on how the club is progressing by logging onto www.facebook.com/caulfieldssupervalu?fref=ts or www.supervalu.iereal-people/sponsorship/gaa/gaa-kit-for-kids

UNDER 13 FOOTBALL:
No joy for the Under 13 footballers in the semi-final last Wednesday night as they were defeated by a much stronger Gaultier side. The lads tried their best but on the night, they had no answer to the visiting side, who we wish the best of luck in the final.

COUNTY POC FADA:
The county Poc Fada competition will take place on Monday June 22nd at the Mahon Falls in the Comeragh mountains starting at 6:30pm for the Under 16s and 7pm for the seniors. If you would to take part in the event, please contact Doxer Burns 087-8717039.

DÉISE DRAW:
We had no luck in the May Déise draw which took place in Kill last Friday night. Many thanks to all who purchased tickets on the night, and the next draw takes place on Friday June 26th in Ballymacaraby. If you would like to purchase a Déise draw ticket at €10 per month, you can contact Nicky Heffernan 087-6724212 or Declan Howard 087-9393818.

COUNTY DUTY:
Best of luck to Mark O' Brien and the Waterford Senior/Intermediate hurling teams who take on Cork this coming Sunday in Thurles.
