INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers recorded their second win
in this year’s Gerry Kennedy Crash Repairs sponsored competition, with a hard
fought win over a strong De La Salle side in Walsh Park on Saturday last. Aided
by the breeze in the opening half, Ferrybank opened with points from Cormac O'
Driscoll, Oisin MacCathmhaoil, Mark O' Brien and Eoin O' Neill to lead by 0-04
to 0-02 midway through the opening half.
Ferrybank got their opening goal son after when MJ
Sutton off loaded the ball to Oisin MacCathmhaoil who drilled the ball to the
back of the net for a fine goal. Further points from Eoin O' Neill, Cormac O'
Driscoll and MJ ensured Ferrybank led 1-10 to 0-07 at the break.
Playing against the breeze in the second half, DLS
came more into the game, putting pressure on the defence, but credit to the
lads, they held firm, not conceding any goals and despite DLS getting within
two points, Ferrybank got on top in the final ten minutes and points from Eoin
O' Neill & Mark O' Brien extended the lead.
In the closing minutes Oisin MacCathmhaoil capped a
good display with his second goal shooting home from close range to ensure a
2-15 to 0-13 win. A good all round display from the team, and they can look
forward with confidence for their next championship game against St. Mollerans
in a couple of weeks’ time.

JUNIOR HURLING:
Our Junior Hurlers gained their first win of this
year’s championship with a 2-11 to 2-05 win over St. Mollerans last Friday
night. Early points were exchanged with Alex Power and Ciaran Doyle scoring for
Ferrybank. Ferrybank then hit a purple patch in the opening half with goals in
as many minutes from Martin Freeman and a Kieran Doyle penalty. Greg Murphy contributed
through scoring some fine points, Ferrybank built up a seven point lead coming
up to half time, but St. Mollerans got a life line with a soft goal.
Mollerans reduced the gap to three points early in
the second-half, but Ferrybank created scoring chances in which the Murphy
brothers scored points and the excellent Pat O' Neill also contributed to the
scoreboard, leaving Ferrybank running out comfortable winners in the end.
