JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Our Junior footballers made a winning start to this years championship with a narrow 2-04 to 0-7 win over De La Salle this morning at Gracedieu. It was a game of two halves, with the strong win playing its part. De La Salle had the breeze in the opening half and built up a 0-6 to 0-0 lead at the break. Ferrybanks defence held firm in that opening half, not giving any goal chances to the hosts. In the second half, Ferrybank created scoring chances early in the half, but didnt take them, until Alex Power took a chance to register Ferrybanks first point, with John Ahern getting another score soon after. De La Salle replied with a point to extend it to five, but Ferrybank created chances and a low shot from Kevin Hurley was turned into the net from Martin Freeman from close range. Two points from Kevin Hurley levelled it up, and as the game entered injury time a Keith Power '45 was touched into the net by MJ Sutton to give Ferrybank the win.
