Practical Coaching Course in the West Waterford / East Cork and South Tpperary on Sunday Feb 8th
Just before all the juveniles in the club start back training, Premier Sports College are holding a wonderful and exciting one day course in Ballymacarbery - 10 miles south of Clonmel on Sunday 8th Feb.

COACHING FITNESS & SKILLS TO CHILDREN - U/6 TO U/12

FEE            €50 per coach - Pay on the day but book immediately
COURSE:   Coaching Fitness and Skills to 6 to 12 year olds

AIM:           The course is aimed at coaches and paraents working with 6 to 12 years olds and to primary school teachers


COURSE CONTENT:
Lecture 1 – 30 minutes

Examines the development background of Under 6 and Under 8 player. It looks at how they learn skills and movement patterns and ensures that coaches understands what best helps them develop as players.
 
Practical Workshop 1 – Skills – 75 minutes
This workshop highlights how skills are coached to Under 6 and Under 8 players using hurling skills as the basis of the skill learning process. It highlights 6 to 10 hurling skills and shows how the skill learning progression is developed
 
Practical Workshop 2 – General Movment Skills – 45 minutes
This workshop demonstrates how best to develop Fundamental Motor Skills for the athletes and players in one’s care. It looks at the theory and practice of FMS coaching and learning.
 
Lecture 2 – 30 Minutes
Examines the background and development of U10 & U12 Children as sports people. It ensures coaches know what children of this age group are capable of learning and how hard they can be pushed as well as knowing the limitations in training they bring to training.
 
Practical Workshop 3 – Skills – 75 minutes
This workshop highlights how skills are coached to Under 10 and Under 12 using hurling skills as the basis of the skill learning process. It highlights 6 to 10 hurling skills and shows how the skill learning progression is developed
 
Practical Workshop 4 - Functional Skills – 45 minutes
Examines the importance of functional development for young players and include exercises to develop their ability to improve how their body functions correctly and more efficiently for sport
 
Lecture 4 – 45 Minutes
This lectures is devoted to understanding the theory and practice of speed and agility development in first Window of Speed Development. Some practical work will be included in this lecture
Workshop 4 demonstrates loads of exercises which can be used with children of all age groups to make them faster. It looks at a range of drills to develop speed and agility at U/6, U8, u10 and U12.
