GAA NOTES

UNDER 16 HURLING: Our Under 16 Hurlers recorded their second win in three games last night with a comfortable 5-11 to 1-5 win over a gallant Clashmore side. Most of the damage was done in the first half, with Ferrybank leading by 12 points, and they never looked in any danger of letting that lead slip. Two early goals from John Ahern got Ferrybank of to a good start, followed by a Robbie Carew point. Clashmore responed with two points, but a third Ferrybank goal from Darryl Griffin put clear daylight between the sides, and further points from John Ahern and MJ Sutton saw Ferrybank 3-7 to 0-4 ahead at the break. An early goal from a free by Clashmore at the start of the second half gave them an ideal start, but moments later Shane Meagher scored Ferrybanks fourth with a well taken strike. Points from Robbie Carew, Darryl Griffin increased the lead, and just before the end of the game, Ferrybank got their fifth goal through John Ahern. This win keeps the team in the hunt for honours, and with two games remaining against Fourmilewater (Scheduled to take place next Wednesday night Sept 12th in Ferrybank at 6:30pm) and NaGaeil(Dunhill/Fenor scheduled for Sunday Sept 16th at 11:30am in Dunhill) Ferrybank are in a good position to make it through to the semi final stages.
