UNDER 16 HURLING: Our under 16 Hurlers were defeated in their opening game in this years Championship going under by 3-7 to 1-7 to Tramore this morning. Soft goals proved the down fall for the team, as Tramore capitalise on this to record the win. Played in good sunshine, Tramore opened the scoring with a point, before Robbie Carew replied for the home side. Tramore got the first goal of the game when a long free went all the way into the Ferrybank net to open a five point lead. Moments later Ferrybank got right back into the game, when a Robbie Carew free ended up in the Tramore net. Just before half time, Tramore struck with two killer goals, another long free into the Ferrybank area, wasnt cleared and the ball ended up in the net, and Tramore got their third to open up a eight point lead. John Ahern reduced the gap to leave it 3-4 to 1-3 in Tramore favour. Ferrybank worked hard in the second half but needed a goal to get them back into the game, despite points from Robbie Carew couldnt get the goal they needed and Tramore ran out good winners.
