UNDER 16 HURLING:
Pride of place this week goes to our Under 16 Hurlers who defeated NaGaeil (Dunhill/Fenor) in the division two Eastern Final in Walsh Park yesterday. This was a great performance from the team as each and everyone worked hard for one another in order to secure victory. Early scores from Robbie Carew point and goal from the excellent John Ahern got the villagers of to a good start, but Na Gaeil levelled the game up with 1-1. Two goals inside three minutes gave Ferrybank a good solid base, and this lead they never relinquished. Firstly Shane Morrissey got a goal, and John Ahern got his second and Ferybanks third. Na Gaeil replied with two points before half time to leave the scoreline 3-1 to 1-3 in Ferrybanks favour. In the second half points from Robbie and John extended the lead, but Na Gaeil didnt give up and three points reduced the gap to four points. A good score from William Tyler relieved the presure, as Na Gaeil came forward, but solid defending from the defence kept Na Gaeil at bay. MJ Sutton with a '65' and Robbie Carew point kept the scoreboard ticking over, and right at the death John Ahern sealed the win with an excellent goal for his Hattrick and Ferrybanks fourth to leave the full tie score 4-6 to 1-8. Captain John Ahern collected the trophy after the game. Thanks to all who came along and cheer othe lads.
