GAA NOTES
INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate Hurlers were defeated by Eirns Own last night in the Intermediate Hurling league on a scoreline of 3-8 to 2-8. Played in Wintry conditions, it was difficult for both teams to play good hurling. Ferrybank fielded a very young team, consisting of Minors and Under 21 players, and they acquitted themselves well. Ferybank had most of the chances in the first half, and lead 1-5 to -6pts at half time, with Mark Russell scoring 4 points and Mark O' Brien scoring 1-1. The only goal arived on the stroke of half time when Mark Russells shot was saved by the Eirns Own goalkeeper, and Mark was on hand to drill the ball to the net. In the Second half, Eirns own got a goal to put them in the lead, which was followed by a point, but almost immediately Kevin Hurley scored from close range to put Ferrybank into the lead. But 2 goals in a few minutes swung the game in Eirns owns way, and despite points from Cormac O' Driscoll and Phil Blake it wasnt enough in the end. Despite this defeat, this would have been a good run out for a number of the younger players who are preparing for Minor and Under 21 Championship matches. Thanks to all who came along and supported the team on such a wet and Miserable night. TEAM: Darren Hickey, Greg Kinsella, Damien Ahern, Stephen Quinn, Damien Walsh, Gary Coady, Seamus Burchill, Phil Blake (-1), Cormac O' Driscoll(-2), Kevin Hurley(1-0), Sam Lawless, Mark O' Brien(1-1), Cormac Hefernan, Luke Flynn, Mark Russell(-4), Jamie Diggins, Greg Murphy, Thomas Lane, Aidan Sinnott, Caolan MacCathmaoil.
