GAA NOTES

UNDER 5/6/7/8 HURLING.in
Ferrybank, riding on the crest of a wave of their recent success, contuined the form  in the Under 5/6/7/8 games in Mt Sion. As we all know, Mt Sion proved to be fierce opponents, and the games were close, but the Ferrybank lads dominated in the end. The lads provided a feast of top quality hurling. The marking was second to none, and all settled well in their positions. As always, thanks to the parents and relatives for their support. Why not bring your child to Ferrybank Gaa from 4 yrs onwards. It provides kids to meet new friends, and enjoy themselves in a controlled and Safe environment. INTERMEDIATE HURLING:
Our Intermediate hurlers will play Tramore this Sunday morning May 27th in Fenor at 12pm in the Championship. Having won their opening two games, Ferrybank will be hoping to make it three wins on the trot, but a stern test lies ahead. Please come along and support the team.

MINOR FOOTBALL: It was heartbreak for the Minors last Saturday as they were defeated in the Division 4 final by St Marys on a scoreline of 4-9 to 2-9. The lads tried hard over the 60 minutes, but each time they reduced the gap, St Marys got crucial goals. Despite been reduced a man, Ferrybank fought hard to the end, but it wasnt to be. Thanks to all who came along and supported the team on the day, and hopefully it wont be to long before these young lads, will collect a few trophies. Thanks to Marty, Darragh, Shiner for helping out with the team over the year.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Our Junior Footballers suffered a disappointing defeat last Friday night in Ferrybank to St Pauls on a scoreline of 5-8 to 2-11. Goals win matches, and that was the case here, as some poor defending gifted St Pauls the goals which they took. Level at 2-5 a piece with goals frm DJ Magee, Phil Blake and some good points from Greg Murphy(-3), Sam Lawless, Kevin Hurley, Ferrybank made a dreadful start to the second half conceeding 2-2 in a matter of minutes. Ferrybank soon clawed their way back into the game with points from Brian Bartley, John Byrne, Kevin Hurley, Greg Murphy, but another soft goal finished the game as a contest. Overall Ferrybank cant blame anyone only themselves, and now face an uphill task to qualify for the quater finals. Their next game is scheduled for Aug 3rd away to Roanmore. TEAM: Aidan Sinnott, Martin Freeman, Paddy Treacy, Damien Ahern, Stephen Treacy, Cormac Heffernnan, Tommy Carew, Phil Blake(1-0), Sam Lawless(-1), Luke Flynn, Kevin Hurley(-3), Greg Murphy(-4), Darragh Reynolds, DJ Magee(1-0), John Byrne(-2), Brian Bartley(-1), Sean Rellis, Eddie Byrne.

DEISE DRAW: The Deise Draw takes place this Friday night May 25th in Clashmore Gaa grounds. Many thanks to all who have purchased tickets for the draw, and the best of luck.
