JUNIOR HURLING: Our Junior Hurlers were well beaten by Eirns Own in their opening game in this years Junior Hurling championship last night on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-5. Short a number of players going into last nights game didnt help, as a more experienced Eirns Own side were far superior for Ferrybank on the night. Eirns Own dominate the game for long periods and took their scores at will, despite the best efforts of the Ferrybank's defence. The visitors led by -11pts to -3pts at half time with Shane Flynn (2) and Greg Murphy (-1) raising the white flag for the home side. Ferrybank started the second half brightly and missed a couple of scores that could have brought them closer, and might have boosted their confidence, but Eirns Own moved up a notch and started to tag over points to put clear daylight between them, and then put the ball into the Ferrybank net to open up a ten point lead. Martin Freeman replied quickly with a consolation goal, before Eirns Own completed the scoring with two late points, to run out comfortable winners. This is a young Ferrybank side, and lets hope they will have a full selection to pick from when they play Tramore in their next game on Friday 11th May in Ferrybank at 7:30pm. TEAM: Fred Carroll, Aidan Sinnott, Peter O' Byrne, Jamie Diggins (-1), Hugh O' Neill, Tommy Carew, Dean Phelan, Greg Kinsella, Luke Flynn, Greg Murphy (-1), Shane Flynn(-3), James Murphy, Darren Hickey, Martin Freeman (1-0), Eddie Byrne, DJ Magee.
