Ferrybank 5-5 Dunhill/Fenor 5-6
Only one point in it, but sadly, it was the away team who held that advantage when the final whistle blew in this exciting and extraordinary
Dunhill/Fenor to there credit got off to a great start and led by as much as 6 points at half time! Ferrybank in the second half launched wave after wave of attacks and were rewarded for their efforts scoring 4-4 in that period to bring the game level after normal time. Several Ferrybank players standing out for praise for their performances, no more so than Issac power who put in a really gutsy performance and won his individual battles against his opponent all evening. Not far behind was Daryl Griffin with his usual display of excellence and commitment at Centre back. Credit is due also to Jack Wicks, Jono Brown, David English and Shane Meagher who played their hearts out for the team. Also to Paul Carew who played his best ever game in a Ferrybank shirt. In extra time Ferrybank took the lead for the first time in the game going a point up. However, it was not to be our day, and credit is due to Dunhill/Fenor who rallied when going a point behind and came back to win it at the end by the narrowest of margins. Ferrybank players can hold there heads high as they gave everything they had and team mentors Brian and Noel couldn’t have asked anymore of the team. Overall it made for a thrilling Championship match to watch but yet again, great disappointment for the lads playing it when you lose. Better luck next time!
