GAA NOTES
MINOR HURLING: Our Minor Hurlers recorded their second victory in this years championship with a hard fought victory over a strong Passage side in Ferrybank tonight. The key to this victory was laid in the first half with some excellent hurling from the home side, which yieled some good points from Sam Lawless and Mark Russell at centre forward, and some excellent defending from the six backs. The only goal scored in this game came midway through the first half from Sam Lawless, and the home side led by 1-7 to -3pts at half time. At the start of the second half, an excellent save from goalkeeper Oisin Mac Cathmhaoil kept the lead in tact, and Mark Russell put over two points to extend the lead to nine. But credit to Passage as they refused to throw in the towel and they put over six unanswered points to reduce the gap to a goal, and as hard as Passage tried Oisin on goal saved two point blank shots, which kept us in the lead, another Mark Russell point put daylight between the teams, but Passage were awarded a Penelty, which was saved. Greg Murphy put over the insurance point to give victory on a scoreline of 1-12 to - 10pts. This was an excellent performance from the team, considering they were missing a number of players. TEAM: Oisin Mac Cathmhaoil, Emmet Fell,Aidan Sinnott, Stephen Quinn, Eoin Buggy, Damien Ahearn, Kevin Hurley, Mark O' Brien, Seamus Burchill, Greg Murphy, Mark Russell, Luke Flynn, Darren Hickey, Sam Lawless, Andy O' Brien.
