GAA NOTES

INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate Hurlers played two challenge games over the last few days, in preparations for our vital championship match against Mt Sion on Tuesday July 13th in Walsh park at 7:30pm. First up was a trip to Butlerstown and after a very entertaining game we ran out winners on a scoreline of 4-14 to 2-18. At half time we trailled by 1-9 to 1-5, following a below par performance, and following at straight talk the lads upped a gear and scored a nice range of goals and points, credit to Butlerstown as they never gave up and kept playing until the whistle blew. This was a decent performance espically in the second half, and the switches made by the selectors paid dividends. Last Saturday we travelled to Tramore to play the hosts, and we were severley understrength, but the lads hurled well for the sixty minutes, but the home side ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-13 to 1-13. Trailling 2-8 to -4pts at half time the lads put in a great effort and took some nice scores during the second half, with a bit more steadiness we could have got a few more scores, but Tramore got the vital goals in the second half. It was disappointing to note that some players failed to show up for this game, and not even contacting the management to inform them of their unavailabilty. They left down there players down on the night. With a vital championship game just around the corner, its vital that all players contact the management team if they are unavailable for training.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Our Junior football game against Fenor scheduled for last Saturday night was postponed as Fenor conceeded this game. Our final game in the league basis will take place on Saturday 17th July at 7:30pm, home to Kilmacthomas. With qualification for the semi final now guaranteed, this game will decide who tops the group.

DEISE DRAW: Our winning run in this year's Deise Draw came to an end last Friday night when unfortunately we didnt have a winner, however the next draw will take place on Friday 30th July in Passage. Many thanks to all who have supported this draw, as this is a vital fundraiser for the club.

MINOR HURLING: With Cormac, Sam and Damien involved in the Waterford panel our first two games in this years Minor championship have been postponed, we were scheduled to play Abbeyside, and Tramore, but these games will be played at a later date.
