GAA NOTES

JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Our Junior Footballers travelled to Mt Sion to play the host team in round three of this years eastern football championship and after sixty minutes the sides finished all square at -10pts to 1-7. In a glorious evening for a game it was the home side who made the brighter start by getting two quick opening points. Greg Murphy settled the team down by registering our opening score, which was quickly followed by another point by Kevin Roche. We started to get on top of the game and points from Greg and Jason Hennessey put us 4 points clear, to be fair we should have been well ahead by missing some glorious chances of goals, before we left Mt Sion back in it and at half time is was all square at 6pts each. In the second half Mt sion went back into the lead and despite dominating we couldnt put the scores on the board, before Marty Freeman hit the back of the net with a goal, this was our first score for 23 minutes. Kevin Roche then put over a points to put us 3pts ahead with 8 minutes left, but some poor defending cost us dearly as Mt Sion put over three late points frees to secure a draw. They also missed a penelty in the second half, as James Troy pulled of a great save. Despite dropping a point we are still in a good position to qualify for the semi finals with 5 points out of six. Our next game in this group will be against St Pauls, time and date yet to be confirmed.TEAM: James Troy, James Murphy, Gary Coady, Tommy Carew, Connor Hogan, Cormac O' Meara, Sean Flynn, Phil Blake, Kevin Hurley, Greg Murphy, Jason Hennessey, Darragh Reynolds, Cormac O' Driscoll, Marty Freeman, Kevin Roche.
