GAA NOTES

INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Our Intermediate Hurlers played Roanmore in a challenge game in Ferrybank on Saturday last and were defeated on a scoreline of -16pts to 1-9. A poor opening start to the game was our downfall as we found ourselves 7pts down after the first 15 mins as a dominant Roanmore team were first to everything and were the more hungrier side. Eoin O' Neill opened our account which was quickly followed by another point by Damien Heffernan, but at half time Ferrybank found themselves trailling by -8pts to -2pt. Following a chat at half time, the lads began to slowly improve and two quick points by Eoin O' Neill, which was followed by a John Byrne goal, the deficit was cut to two points and more belief began to circle in the Ferrybank game as points from Brendan O' Meara and Cormac O' Driscoll and Phil Blake reduced the gap to a point with a couple of minutes to go. However Roanmore tagged on three late points to secure a deserved win. This was a disappointing performance from the team espically in the opening quater, and no doubt a lot of serious work will be required before we play Clonea in our next championship game on Saturday June 5th in Kill at 7:30pm.
TEAM: Sean Flynn, Conor Hogan, Gary Coady, Tommy Carew, Shane Sullivan, Cormac O' Meara, Paul Martin, Chris Hoban, Phil Blake, Damien Heffernan, John Byrne, James Murphy, Cormac O' Driscoll, Martin Wickham, Eoin O' Neill. Subs Brendan O' Meara for M Wickham, Seamus Burchill for P Martin.
