JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Our Junior Footballers started there defence of there Eastern crown with a comfortable four point victory over Eirns Own in Poleberry last Friday night on a scoreline of -14pts to 2-4. Despite the hosts making a good start with two quick points in the opening minutes, Greg Murphy got Ferrybanks opening point which was then followed by scores from Cormac O' Meara, Phil Blake, Damien Walsh, and Cormac Heff, which put us into a -6pt to -4pt lead at half time. In the second half more points followed by Greg, Wocca, philly,and Heff, put us in command and despite conceeding two late goals, Marty Freeman finished the scoring with a well taken point. This was a good performance from the team. Our scores on the night were Greg Murphy 5pts, Cormac o' Meara 3pts, Phil Blake 2 pts, Cormac Heffernan 2pts, Damien Walsh 1pt, Marty Freeman 1pt. Our next game in the Football is against Butlerstown o,n week ending 9th May, followed by Mt Sion on May 21st. INTERMEDIATE HURLING: Following a Eastern Board meeting which took place last Wednesday night our championship game against Portlaw scheduled for next Friday night in Dunhill has been POSTPONED due to Portlaw having a player on the Waterford Senior Football panel in the National Football league final in croke park on Saturday night. No doubt this is dissapointing for the players as we were looking forward to the game and
a lot of preparations had gone into it. No date has been set for this game. Our next game is against Ballygunner on MONDAY May 3rd in Walsh park at 2.30pm. We will also play Clonea on Saturday June 5th in Kill, time yet to be confirmed.
DEISE DRAW: The second draw of 2010 Deise Draw will take place on Friday April 30th in Fenor Gaa Club. Tickets are still on sale at 10 euro's per month from any committee member.This is a vital fundraiser from the clubs point of view and we would urge all members and players to support this draw.
GOLF CLASSIC: The annual Gerry Ryan Memorial Golf Classic will take place on Friday May 7th in Waterford Golf Club. Time sheet is well up and running and it aint to late to register a team of three to Andy Ryan on 0863938993 who will be able to give you a tee off time. Team of three costs 120. euro's which includes a meal after the round in the clubhouse.
