Under 14 Hurling County final.

On Wednesday night last, the Ferrybank under 14 hurling team went to Walsh Park to play St. Mary’s in the county semi-final. However Ferrybank didn’t get off to a great start hitting several wides in the first 15 minutes. Ferrybank didn’t let that continue for much longer though, mid-way into the first half, Stephen Quinn scoring a goal to boost Ferrybank’s confidence but it didn’t stop there, continues scores came from every angle of the pitch, with further goals coming from Darren Hickey and the excellent Robbie Carew. St. Mary’s tried to match Ferrybank’s performance, but it just didn’t happen on the day. Ferrybank won and ended up in a county final yet again.
Two days later Ferrybank travelled to Fraher Field Dungarvan to face a very good Clashmore outfit. It was obvious after ten minutes that there was going to be only one winner, despite a Peter Whittle goal; we went in a half time 2-9 to 1-0 down. Against all of the odds our players kept on trying to the end and were rewarded with two goals from Mark Howard and a great strike from MJ Sutton and points from Jamie Diggins and Mark Russell. This was the first time this year that the team were beaten in competition and credit goes to the management team of Brian Hickey, Killian O’Brien, Mick Power and Nicky Heffernan
