Good effort from Intermediates
The Intermediate hurlers put up a brave display in the opening round of the Eastern Championship before going down 2-16 to 2-10 to Mount Sion. Behind 0-8 to 0-4 at the break, we were hit with a succession of injuries with forwards Shane Flynn and Damien Heffernan being force to leave the field with leg strains. A goal from Eoin O'Neill with five minutes remaining left just three points between the sides but a free to Mount Sion that came back off the corssbar was batted to the net and six points was too big a deficit to overcome. Good to see a number of young starlets make their championship debut for the village and with more experience this can surely only help as the year progresses. Training resumes on Tuesday evening in preparation for the next outing which is against Erins Own on Saturday in Walsh Park.
